Good evening, Comrades I want to thank the volunteers that helped at our
Canada Day Celebrations at Gemmill Park on Friday July 1st. The Ladies Aux had a
great day running a BBQ. They were sold out of Hamburgers, Hotdogs and
Sausages by 7:30pm. The Branch Refreshment Tent also had a successful day.
That brings us to this message. Without our volunteers we would not have a
Legion Branch in Almonte. Over that last several years most events or fundraisers
have relied on the same few volunteers. It is time for the rest of the Branch
membership to step up and help.
This coming Saturday July 16th is our 90th Anniversary Pig Roast. Royal
Canadian Legion Branch 05-240 Almonte received their Charter on July 15th, 1932.
There has been a lot of ups and downs in the last 90 years including the last 2
years getting through the Covid-19 Pandemic. We survived the pandemic with the
help of a lot of volunteers. We will be looking for volunteers to help set up tables
and chairs out in the parking lot. We will also be looking for volunteers to help
tear down everything at the end of the night. The set up will be at noon and the
tear down will be at 11:30pm-12:00am.
Without volunteers these fundraisers will not happen. And without these
fundraisers our Branch would not survive. We are also looking for other
fundraisers that will help our Legion. If you have an idea for a fundraiser or would
like to volunteer, please reach out to me.
In Comradeship
Rob Madore
